Art_2_Web_formatArthur E. Molloy is the Founder and President of Capital Growth, Inc.  He has spent over three decades in the financial industry and has weathered multiple market and economic cycles. 

In watching his clients’ lives and businesses evolve, Art has become much more than an advisor to his clients.  He has become a trusted resource and friend.  Art focuses on building lasting relationships based on honesty, integrity, and trust.  As a result, many of his clients have been with him for more than 20 years and he now advises the sons and daughters of some of his original clients.  New clients are accepted by referral only.  This is a further testament to the level of satisfaction clients have with the expertise and care that Art delivers.

Art began his career in financial planning in 1978 and established his own independent financial firm, Capital Growth, Inc., in 1983.  He holds a number of licenses and certifications and is a member of several industry related organizations.  Art combines multiple disciplines of fundamental, technical and market behavioral analysis with his clients’ specific financial needs to develop his investment strategies.

Jay A. Wurtzler, CFP®

Executive Vice President

Wurtzler, the Executive Vice President of Capital Growth, Inc., is dedicated to providing unbiased investment advice and building strong, lasting relationships of mutual trust with his clients.  He has over twenty years of experience as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner helping people achieve their financial goals.  He specializes in fee based investment management, retirement planning, annuities, alternative investments, and overall financial planning.  Jay has a keen ability to evaluate financial situations, educate his clients, and to develop and implement strategic plans that enrich his clients’ lives.

Jay earned a Bachelor of Science, Business Administration, degree from Xavier University in 1985.  He began his career in the financial services industry in 1986 as a Financial Advisor with The New England in Cincinnati, OH.  He graduated from the College of Financial Planning in 1990.  He has also completed several courses from the Life Underwriters Training Counsel.  Jay holds 4 securities licenses (including 1 Principal designation), and a California Life & Disability Insurance License.  Jay has held supervisory responsibilities for 3 different broker-dealer firms over the past 20 years.

Jay is a native of Cincinnati and moved to San Diego in 1988.  He has served on the Board of the Scripps Ranch Civic Association for over a decade.  He has also resided as treasurer of the Rancho La Cresta Homeowners Association for over five years.  Jay and his wife Erica have two children, Blake & Morgan.  He enjoys golfing, exercise, traveling and spending time with his family.

Patricia Feld, CFA, CFP®

Portfolio Manager

Pat_F_Web_format Pat has been with Capital Growth, Inc. since 2001.  Pat earned her MBA degree in 1989 from the University of Houston.  She is a CFA Charterholder since 1996 and earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification in 2003.

From 1998 to 2001, Pat was a Portfolio Manager for Northern Trust in Houston, TX, managing portfolios for high net worth clients and trusts.  Pat began her career in the Financial Services Industry in 1989 with JP Morgan Chase in Houston.  During the 9 years with Chase, Pat held several positions in the areas of consumer credit, capital markets, and investment management, ultimately serving as a credit and equity analyst for mutual funds and private accounts.  While working for JP Morgan Chase, she wrote an article entitled “Quantifying the Credit Risk Exposure of an Interest Rate Swap” which was published in the Journal of Bank Cost & Management Accounting in 1993, early in the life of these derivative products.

Pat holds 2 securities licenses and is currently a member of the CFA Institute, the CFA Society of San Diego and the National Association of Active Investment Managers.  She is also an active member of Soroptomist International of La Jolla, a volunteer organization devoted to improving the lives of women and girls.

Pat resides in La Jolla with her husband Mark.  She savors the Southern California outdoor lifestyle, traveling, and the 24/7 access to investment/market news and information.

Patrick Brennan, MBA

Vice President

Pat_B_Web_formatPatrick has been a professional financial advisor with Capital Growth, Inc., an independent financial planning and investment management firm, since 1998.  Patrick’s client base consists primarily of families and small business owners.  His primary focus is on each client’s personal investment strategy as well as their long term retirement planning.  In addition, Pat’s personal goal is to help his clients plan effectively for their retirement, in advance, so that they can maintain their quality of life throughout their retired lives.

Patrick graduated from Pepperdine University with an MBA in 1998 and a BA degree from the University of San Diego in 1989.  He initially began his career in business when he secured his real estate license at the age of 18, to help finance his college education.  After earning his MBA, he began in the financial services industry with Capital Growth, Inc.  Pat holds four securities licenses including:  Series 7, 6, 63 and 65.  He also holds a California Life and Disability Insurance License (0C14069) and a California Real Estate License.  Prior to joining Capital Growth, Inc., Pat was a Regional Manager for Transtel Communications in Los Angeles.

Pat resides in Carlsbad with his wife of 20 years and their two children.  His role model is his father, who taught him the values of perseverance, integrity and planning for the future.  Pat is a southern California native and enjoys coaching youth sports and traveling with his family.

John Michael Cione

Financial Advisor

John_Web_formatJohn Michael Cione has been involved in the financial services industry his entire life.  He was born in Brooklyn, NY and moved to Holmdel, NJ when he was 11 years old.  During summer vacation of his teenage years, he commuted on the train to Manhattan where he worked at an array of jobs on Wall Street on the New York Stock Exchange, the American Stock Exchange and the New York Mercantile Exchange.  He graduated Holmdel High School in 1979 and started college at San Diego State University and graduated from UC San Diego in 1984 with a BS in Biology.

In September 1987, he received his Series 7 and 63 licenses and his first experience as a professional investment advisor was to witness the 1987 Black Monday Crash.  From then until 2001, he worked for a plethora of small, boutique brokerage firms while building his clientele and earning his Series 24 and 27 licenses as well as the CA Life & Disability Insurance license.  In 2001, John joined Capital Growth, Inc. and has been a part of the outstanding team of individuals that work there every day. He currently takes part in the management of approximately $40 million in assets invested in an array of financial products that meet the needs of his clients. John loves working with people, which makes coming to work something he enjoys.

John has a younger brother, two younger sisters, four nieces and two nephews.  He is single, never been married, has no children and lives in Solana Beach, CA, two blocks from his parents home, with his dog and cat. He is an avid surfer, expert skier and travels extensively when not working on beautifying his home and creating art forms of many types.

Marcella Harkness, CFP®

Marcella_Web_formatMarcella’s professional experience encompasses more than 20 years in the financial and investment industries.  Marcella concentrates on long term investment planning.  She understands the importance of trust and is able to focus on each client’s personal goals, taking into account all aspects of one’s finances and lifestyle objectives.  She has a special talent for translating complex financial issues into simple, understandable concepts, and creating an action plan to meet individual objectives.  Marcella thrives on helping multigenerational families grow, manage, preserve and transfer wealth in a meaningful way.

Marcella began her career as a stockbroker in Denver, Colorado.  She returned to California where she worked as a Financial Advisor at North Island Federal Credit Union. She created her own Independent Financial Planning Practice in 1999.  Marcella joined Capital Growth, Inc. in 2010 in order to provide a broader investment platform to her clientele.

Marcella is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® practitioner.  She holds 4 securities licenses (including a Principal Designation), as well as a California Life and Disability Insurance License.  She has held supervisory responsibilities for two different broker-dealer firms over the past 20 years.  Marcella has a Master’s degree from San Diego State University (1995) and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of California, Davis (1985).

Marcella resides in San Diego with her husband and their two children.  She is a California native and grew up on a dairy farm in the Imperial Valley.  Marcella enjoys spending time with her family, golf, indoor soccer, skiing, masters swimming and is an avid reader.

Scott Dickerson, ChFC

Scott_Web_formatScott has always had an interest in the stock market and bought his first stock based on his own research in high school through his dad’s broker.  Scott has worked in the financial industry since 1988.  He is a Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC) and has extensive training and background in Investment Management, Retirement Planning, Tax Planning, Estate Planning and Financial Planning.

Scott graduated from Lewis and Clark College in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business & Administrative Studies, including an overseas study program at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland.  Scott is a registered principal with Independent Financial Group, LLC (“IFG”), a registered broker-dealer, who maintains Scott’s FINRA qualification registrations Series 7, 24, 63 & 65, as well as his Life, Health & Disability Insurance Licenses.

Scott grew up in Portland, Oregon and moved to San Diego in 1987.  He and his wife Tami have been married over twenty years.  They are active in their community and their church, Horizon Christian Fellowship.  Scott’s hobbies include golf, exercise, reading, and traveling.  He was the Junior Champion for two years at the Portland Golf Club. He has successfully completed the Portland Marathon and regularly participated in the 10K Cascade Run in Portland, Oregon.  Scott has been a member of the Toastmasters International and taught the Dale Carnegie course for many years.

Petra Jones

Client Service Associate

Petra_Web_formatPetra began her career in banking in 1991 as a teller, ultimately becoming an assistant manager of Hawthorne Savings in Vista.  After 7 years in retail banking she shifted gears becoming an office manager / credit portfolio specialist at Bank One (now JP Morgan Chase), specializing in commercial and residential real estate.  She joined Capital Growth Inc. in April 2007 as a client service associate.  She is also an active notary.

Petra was born in Germany and came to the United States when she was 11 years old.  She became a citizen in 1995.  Her hobbies are exercising, travel and playing in the desert with her husband in their sand rail.

Carolyn Moore

Client Service Associate

Carolyn_Web_formatCarolyn relocated to San Diego, CA and joined Capital Growth, Inc. in 2011.  She holds Series 7 and 66 securities licenses.  Carolyn has a Bachelor's degree from the University of Phoenix in Business Management and Marketing.  She began her career in the Financial Services Industry in 2005.  She has worked as a client relations manager and a retirement plan analyst. 

Carolyn resides in San Diego with her husband and enjoys the wonderful Southern California weather. Carolyn is a native of Greensboro, NC.

Mike Molloy

Client Service Associate

Mike_Web_formatMike joined Capital Growth in a part-time role in March, 2010.  In June, 2011, he became full-time client services associate and special assistant to Pat Brennan.

Mike started in the Securities industry in 2007, as the Branch Inspector for a Broker-Dealer, Independent Financial Group.  It was there that he gained knowledge of the industry and obtained his Series 7 license.

Mike is a San Diego native, who loves baseball and music.  He married his high school sweetheart in July of 2010, after only 11 years of dating.  They recently became Padres season ticket holders and are residing in Clairemont, San Diego.
